Founded in 1532, Guadalajara is nowadays the second most populated and
important city of Mexico. Internationally famous as the origin of the
mariachis, the tequila, and by Tlaquepaque, one of the richest artisan
centers of the country.
Its main tourist attractions gather in the historic center of the
city. The most representative of them is the enormous cathedral, symbol
of the city.To its right, we find the ‘Rotonda de Hombres
Ilustres’, and on its left side, the Government Palace. Behind
the cathedral, is the ‘Teatro Degollado’, a building from
the XIX century. Walking to the east, behind the theater, we can see
the well known ‘Hospicio Cabañas’, famous and very
visited by its wonderful murals painted by José Clemente
Orozco.Within the same sector, it is worth visiting the picturesque
market ‘San Juan de Dios’, and the Mariachis Square.
