Monterrey is the third biggest city of Mexico, and it represents an important commercial and industrial center.

This city is a fascinating mixture of old and new aspects.Origin of great business groups, Monterrey is the center of private enterprise. Though it is not a very tourist city, it has its own charm, and has surroundings of a great natural beauty. For all those interested on architecture and modern art, they will feel fine in this city. This is reflected in the wonderful Contemporary Art Museum (MARCO), by the Mexican architect Luis Barragán, which has a good collection of Latin American art, and which also receives traveling expositions of international level. This museum is located in the ‘Macro Plaza’ (downtown), exactly in the Zaragoza Square, between the Cathedral and the Municipal Palace. Several block to the west is the Church ‘Purísima Concepción’, a superb example of the Mexican architecture of 1940.
Monterrey has a Pink Zone, full of hotels and tourist facilities, and also an Old Neighborhood with traditional buildings, and much nightlife. To the west of the Pink Zone, on a hill, is the Museum of the Bishopric, which keeps remains of the North American invasion of 1846, and from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and its famous ‘Cerro de la Silla’, so called by the shape of its top.
In Monterrey you can also visit the brewery Cuauhtémoc, the biggest and oldest in Mexico. The museum of Monterrey also has a modern art gallery, which keeps works of important Mexican artists, such as Siqueiros, Orozco, Rivera and Tamayo
