The beaches of Rosarito are very popular not only among the
inhabitants of the surrounding cities, such as Tijuana and Ensenada,
but also among foreign visitors that cross the frontier every day to
bathe in their waters. The fame of this resort goes back to 1927, when the recently opened
Hotel ‘Playa de Rosarito’ started to attract movie stars
and celebrities, who enjoyed the quietness and beauty of the beaches.
Vincent Price, Mickey Rooney, Lana Turner, Orson Welles and Rita
Hayworth were some of the most distinguished clients the place had.
Lobster is one of the specialty of many restaurants in the place, and
though prices may be somewhat high, don’t miss this delicious
seafood. Some years ago, Rosarito became worldwide known, because in the near
place of Popotla, they built the impressive cinema studio ‘Baja
Studio’, where all the set and staff that filmed
‘Titanic’ was installed.
