Schedules

Entrepreneurs

Stores generally open from Mondays to Saturdays from 9:00 am to 14:00 pm and from 16:00 to 19:00 pm, closing some of them on Saturday afternoon.

Offices, in turn, have a similar schedule, although they don’t open on Saturdays.   Archeological sites are usually open every day of the week, from 08:00, 09:00 or 10:00 am to 17:00 pm.   Meanwhile, most museums are closed on Mondays.   On Sundays, almost all museums and archeological sites are free, so they are full of visitors.

Meeting Schedules

Punctuality is not a virtue of Mexicans, though they have been improving lately, and schedules are more respected every day; nevertheless, don’t be surprised if they make you wait or if the appointment does not occur at the agreed time, so it is preferable to attend appointments with plenty of time.

Clothing

Business meetings are normally attended with formal clothing, unless they are carried out at leisure places, at the countryside, or if the relationship among businessmen is relaxed.   Formal clothing consists of a two-piece suit and tie.   Tuxedos are only used for very formal or diplomatic events.   For night meetings or funerals, it is recommended to wear a dark suit.

The Mexican businessman

Nowadays, the Mexican businessman is an experienced man, accustomed to travel, and he demands the benefits coming along with the fact of being a businessman in Mexico, as for example, agreements with luxurious hotels, airlines and restaurants.   The Mexican businessman will try to please his client without considering costs.   Most of them speak English, and their manners are very respectful.
